Robert Klein, MD, FAAP, FACAAI, is pediatrician-in-chief and medical director of Hasbro Children's Hospital. Klein is also chair of the department of pediatrics at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

As pediatrician-in-chief, Klein leads Hasbro Children's clinical programs, which include the pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic, the Pediatric Heart Center, the Center for Pediatric Imaging, and centers of excellence such as the Asthma and Allergy Center, the Children's Neurodevelopment Center, and the division of pediatric gastroenterology.

Klein will leads the clinical and academic programs at Hasbro Children's Hospital, which involves both campus-based and community faculty. He will oversee future planning for the hospital's pediatric inpatient and ambulatory services, advancement of research programs and faculty recruitment, and facilitates undergraduate and graduate programs for medical students and residents.

In 2001, Dr. Klein joined Hasbro Children's Hospital and the faculty of Alpert Medical School to establish a center of excellence in asthma treatment, research and education. For more than 30 years, Klein has specialized in the treatment and research of pediatric asthma, allergy and immunology. Klein has continued in his role as director of the Asthma and Allergy Center at Hasbro Children's Hospital.

been a principal investigator and co-investigator on NIH-funded research grants for the past 25 years. Klein's research includes projects on perception of asthma symptoms, stress and asthma linkages, treatment guidelines and adherence to treatments in chronic illness. For the past 5 years the Asthma Center, partnering with the University of Puerto Rico, was awarded NIH Center distinction to study disparity in asthma. His articles have appeared in such journals as Pediatrics, the Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Pediatric Pulmonology, The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and others.
