Preparing for Your Radiology Exam at Newport Hospital
CT: For all CT scans except sinus -
nothing to eat or drink for four hours prior to exam. For abdomen or pelvis exam - pick up oral contrast liquid at your physician's office or in the Diagnostic Imaging Department at Newport Hospital.

GI Studies, Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound
: Patient instructions are given when the exam is scheduled.
: Please do not use lotion, powder, perfume or deodorant prior to your exam. These items often leave a residue on the skin that may interfere with the clarity of the breast images.
If your most recent mammogram was performed at a facility other than Newport Hospital, please make every effort to obtain the films and bring them with you to your exam.
(It is important that we compare your exams so we can see any changes.) We will be happy to assist you with this - just advise us ahead of time so that we may help you.
: nothing to eat or drink for 6 hours prior to exam
: Empty bladder 3 hours prior to exam . I hour prior to exam drink 48 oz. of fluid. Do not empty bladder.
: Empty bladder 3 hrs prior to exam. 1 hour prior to exam drink 16 oz. of fluid. Do not empty bladder.
